We were given so many prizes
لقد رزقنا الكثير من النعم
We changed the desert into oases
حولنا الصحارى إلى واحات
We built buildings of different lengths and sizes
شيدنا مباني مختلفة اﻷطوال واﻷحجام
And we felt so very satisfied
و أحسسنا بالرضا التام عن أنفسنا
We bought and bought
اشترينا و اشترينا
And couldn’t stop buying
لم نتمكن من التوقف عن الشراء
We gave charity to the poor
تصدقنا على الفقراء
Cause we couldn’t stand their crying
لأننا صوت بكائهم كان يزعجنا
We thought we’d paid our dues
ظننا أننا أدينا ما علينا
But in fact to ourselves we’re just lying
لكن في الواقع نحن نكذب على أنفسنا فقط
Oh, I’m walking with my head lowered in shame for my place
أَمشي مُطَأْطِئَ الرأسِ خجَلًا مما وَصلنا إليه
I’m walking with my head lowered from my race
أَمشي مُطَأْطِئَ الرأسِ خجَلًا على بَنِي جنسي
Yes, it’s easy to blame everything on the West
نعم من السهل أن نَلُومَ الغَربَ على كل شيء
When in fact all focus should be on ourselves
بينما في الحقيقة يجب علينا أن نُرَكِّزَ على أنفسنا فقط
We were told what to buy and we bought
بُلِّغْنا بماذا علينا اشتراؤُهُ فاشتريناه
We went to London, Paris, and Costa del Sol
ذهبنا إلى لندن باريس وكوستا ديلسول
We made sure we were seen in the most exclusive shops
تباهينا بتسوقنا في أغلى المتاجر والماركات
Yes, we felt so very satisfied
نعم شعرنا بالرضا التام عن أنفسنا
We felt our money gave us infinite power
شعرنا أن أموالنا منحتنا قوة لا حدود لها
We forgot to teach our children about history and honour
نسينا ان نعلم أولادنا التاريخ والشرف
We didn’t have any time to lose
لم يكن لدينا أي وقت نضيعه
When we were so busy feeling so satisfied
عندما كنا مشغولين بالشعور بالرضا التام عن أنفسن
We became individuals without a soul
أصبحنا أفرادًا بدون روح
Despite the heat, our homes felt so empty and cold
على الرغم من الحر ساد منازلنا الاحساس بالفراغ والبرد الشديد
To fill the emptiness, we bought and bought
و لمَلْئِ هذا الفراغ اشترينا واشترينا
Maybe all the fancy cars and bling will make us satisfied
لعل السيارات الفاخرة والأشياء اللامعة تجعلنا نشعر بالرضا
My dear brother and sister it’s time to change inside
أخي العزيز وأختي العزيزة حان الوقت لنُغَيِّرَ ما بداخلنا
Open your eyes, don’t throw away what’s right aside
افتحْ عينيك ولا تُنَحِّي الحَقَّ جانِبًا
Before the day comes when there’s no where to run or hide
قبل أن يأتي اليومُ الذي لا هروبَ فيه ولا إختباء
Now ask yourself ’cause Allah is watching you:
واسْأَلْ نفسك اﻵن فاللهُ يراقبُكَ
Is He satisfied?
هل هو راضٍ
